The reason i want to serve God in my country
I would like to give a brief background about Christianity in my place. The Christians and churches from my country are so silent in responding God’s missions. In my place, after people were became Christians they thought that it was enough for them and they forgot about the commandment that our lord Jesus has given to them. I can say that the churches in my country are still asleep and un- aware for missions. For example, we don’t have to go so far to look for non-believer to preach the gospel. They are just our neighbors; if we step out our door we could see the non-believer. But nobody is caring for them and sharing the gospel to them. Many Bible schools and churches had been established but the number of Christians in our country seems to remain the same at about 8.7%. The very reason is most of the Christians are not sharing the gospel to non-believer and they don’t have a heart to fulfill the commandment of our Lord Jesus. We live in society. If we are to do ministry in society, then we must be involved in understanding of our society. In our society, we have different people who have different mindsets, behaviors, values and rules which they adhere to deeply, which are formed by the environment, the places and the situation of life were they grow up and live. There are diversity of religions: Buddhism, Christianity, Muslims, and Hinduism in our society. The dominant religion is Buddhism, covering about 87% of our society. Buddhism is heartily adhered by Bamar (Burman) group and it has shaped the lives, culture, worldview and mindset of Bamar peoples. Bamar are the majority group, 69 % in the country. Christianity in our country has been mainly seen in the minor ethic groups: Chin, Karen and Kachin since Christianity arrived somewhere in the 1800s. As a result today most of the Christian ministers, missionaries and Bible Schools are from those minor ethic groups. When we Christians do missions and ministry, we do not escape from the presence of Bamar, their religion and influences in our society. In many places, many missionaries are scorned and despised, not because they do not know the theology of Armenian and Calvin, but because they do not know the language, mindset and culture of the people, where they work. Today, we hardly see Christian ministers preaching the gospel fluently in Burmese and aptly using illustrations in preaching gospel in Bamar settings. By looking all those facts, I could say that in my place Christians and ministers are lacks of training, lacks of encouraging to pray for mission and to reach out. Some time I asked my self in my place who will urge the Christians and churches to have a heart for missions and to support missionary and train Christians in order to ready in sharing the gospel. We could not always depend on missionary from out side the country. We have to solve our own problems and we have to find away for it. I believe that God intends to use me for His missions and goals, He has a plan for me and Burmese people that is why He gives me such talent and passion. I believe that He is always presence in His missions and He will works on expanding His kingdom whatever it takes. All I have to do is follow His wills and lives the rest of my life for the glory of God. I want to encourage my fellow Christian’s worker to depend and to study on “the word of God the Bible” because it is inspired by god and the only truth. It is also the special revelation of God that He himself revealed through the Bible. It brings us into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, eternal salvation. It is also useful to be guided our daily lives and in order to lead in the proper way of life (II Tim.3:16).
